Maxi T-Bars are designed to support heavier masonry loads across wider openings.
While steel angles are commonly used as lintels in brickwork, their load capacity is limited depending on the span and wall configuration. For larger openings such as garage doors and wide windows, a Maxi T-Bar provides significantly greater structural strength and rigidity.
The vertical web of the T-Bar increases the lintel’s ability to carry the combined load of brickwork above the opening, making it the preferred solution for long spans and heavier masonry loads in cavity wall and brick veneer construction.
A2: No. Maxi T-Bars are typically installed as a self-supporting lintel on the brick piers.
The lintel carries the load of the brickwork independently of the building frame, allowing the timber or steel frame and masonry to move independently without transferring stress between materials.
This installation method is standard practice in brick veneer and cavity wall construction.
A3: Yes, T-Bars can be cut to length if required.
Use a heavy-duty metal cutting disc or drop saw suitable for structural steel.
After cutting, the exposed steel must be immediately treated with Zinc Shield Cold Galvanising Spray to restore the corrosion protection of the galvanised coating and prevent rust.
A4: Yes. We keep a wide range of Maxi T-Bar lengths in stock, typically ranging from 2.7m up to 6.3m.
This allows us to support residential builds, garage openings, and commercial projects with same-day or next-day delivery across Sydney Metro, depending on stock availability.
